A Holistic Pilgrim walk offers a unique and enriching experience, allowing you to explore beautiful landscapes, historic sites, and spiritual traditions. Ireland has a rich history of pilgrimage, dating back to the earliest Christian communities that settled on the island. This pilgrim will take you along the path traipsed by the Franciscan monks on their journey from Tipperary to just outside Galbally where they built their abbey, namely Mooreabby, embark on this pilgrim walk, immerse yourself in history, and experience natural beauty in a deeply meaningful way. Take your time Hug a tree, do some meditation, make this journey your own.

Pilgrims Holistic Walk

Event Date: 4th of May 2024

Meeting point at the Church car park Galbally at 10pm (Bus to starting Point)

This scenic 12km walk which will begin at Rock an Tarabh car park near Stafford’s O’Brien’s well in the Glen. It will take you along the path traipsed by the Franciscan monks on their journey from Tipperary to just outside Galbally, Co. Limerick where they built their abbey, namely Mooreabby, Along the way we will visit the Mass Rock from Penial times and the pre-Christian Megalithic tomb of the Giants Grave. This fantastic walk with panoramic views of the captivating Galtee mountain range overlooking this magnificent jewel in Irelands crown.

There will be an option for a shorter 9klm walk and participants are invited to come along and enjoy each other’s company at an easy pace. Feel free to sing, recite a verse, hug a tree pray or meditate. Please ensure sturdy footwear, a stick and drinks. Rain gear as per forecast.
