Croughmore Cottage Self Catering, your thatched holiday haven boasts a magnificent setting between two mountain ranges, two fishing rivers, and four counties in the heart of Munster. Here you will meet the real Ireland, away from the mass tourism and madding crowds; yet you will enjoy some of the most spectacular inland scenery in the whole country.

Surrounded by the lush pastures of the Golden Vale, Croughmore Cottage nestles between the Galtee and Knockmealdown mountain ranges, the rivers Blackwater and Suir and Counties Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

It is central to all the cities, major towns, and world-famous visitor attractions in the south of Ireland; the castles of Blarney, Bunratty, Cahir, Lismore, Kilkenny and Limerick; the Rock of Cashel, Lakes of Killarney, Ring of Kerry and Mitchelstown Caves.

All the Regions sport and leisure facilities are open to you, golf, fishing, mountain walks and horse riding.

Croughmore Cottage was built on a 50-acre roadside holding by the owners' grandfather in 1864. It was occupied by the family till the mid-1980s, and restored to its original condition in 1993, when its half-door opened to visitors after it had been given a 4-star rating by the Irish Tourist Board.

For many years before that, the old farmhouse had exuded a charm that forced passers-by to turn their cameras on it. Perhaps its most shining moment came in 1984 when NBC television flashed it across the USA as President Reagan was about to fly to Ireland to visit his great-grand fathers' village three miles away.
