Siobhan, a key member of The Cottage Market Kildorrery Crew, is the owner of Simple Pleasures Preserves, a micro-business making jams, chutneys, marmalade and mustard using as much local and foraged foods as possible.

In a previous life, Siobhain was an office worker and spent over a decade working as a Medical Secretary. By day she made appointments, ran off paperwork and answered phones but in the evenings and weekends, Siobhain watched more cookery programmes than is healthy and her bedside table (as well as most other available surfaces) was covered in cookbooks. Thankfully Siobhain listened to the little voice that said, “You could do that, You could totally make that” and so she took a leap of faith, put her name down for a local summer fair and the rest, as they say, is history. Today Siobhain and Simple Pleasure Preserves has a stall at three weekly markets, sells in several local, independent shops and recently signed up for the new Neighbourhood initiative, an online market selling locally produced goods.
